Global Food Week (October 21-23): ne’ma welcomed national and international partners to its dedicated stand during the Abu Dhabi International Food Exhibition (ADIFE) 2025. The Food Loss and Waste Initiative led an interactive workshop at the Farmers Majlis titled “From Farm to Treasure: Turning Losses into Value.” The session brought together UAE farmers to explore practical approaches to identifying, measuring, and managing food loss at the pre-harvest stage.
The partnership with the UAE Food Cluster, an initiative under the Ministry of Economy, will deepen data collaboration, strengthen engagement among private sector stakeholders, and activate food loss and waste reduction targets across multiple programmes. Cluster members will also play a key role in advancing the ne’ma-led Food Rescue Program and the broader enabling environment needed to reduce food loss and waste nationwide
Under this MoU, Al Ain Farms Group will contribute operational data to the Baseline Study, supporting the development of national benchmarks and best practices. The collaboration also lays the groundwork for broader partnership areas, including food rescue initiatives, public awareness efforts, and the co-creation of practical solutions that reduce losses across the value chain.
ne’ma, together with the Ministry of Economy & Tourism, hosted by The Climate Tribe, co-organized a Circular Food Systems Policy Workshop in Abu Dhabi. The workshop provided a collaborative platform to begin shaping enabling policies that support future food loss and waste reduction, mapping feasible interventions, and preparing the ecosystem for the next phase of national action. Discussions focused on identifying priority policy areas,
The occasion coincided with the FAO’s 80th anniversary, reinforcing the need for international collaboration on responsible food practices on World Food Day, under the theme “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future,” on October 16th.
The coming months will focus on consolidating and validating the information gathered across sectors, laying the groundwork for the first set of insights expected in 2026.
ne’ma will continue its stakeholder engagement through workshops, technical sessions, and sectoral outreach to ensure the ecosystem is ready to translate evidence into action once results are available. This next phase will be critical to shaping practical, scalable solutions to reduce food loss and waste nationwide.
To all partners, households, businesses, and institutions who have contributed to this milestone, thank you for your continued commitment to building a future where no food is wasted.
